سيولي sīwlī S̱. (Beng. from سينا To stitch) s. m. Name of a cast, whose business it is to draw juice from the date or tāṛ trees, &c.

سپاهي sipāh-ī P s. m. A soldier.

ساٿهي sāṭh-ī षष्टिक S̱. s. m. A kind of rice

سودهرم स्वधर्म स्व Own, and धर्म Duty swa-dharma S. s. m. Peculiar duty or occupation (as, praying, of a Brāhmaṇ; fighting, of a soldier, &c.).

سارا sārā P adj. Pure, excellent, sweet-smelling, undefiled; as, عنبرسارا aﻌmbar-i-sārā, The most odoriferous ambergris. S. سارارتهہ सारार्थ (comp. of सार Pith, essence, and अर्थ Meaning) sārārth, s. m. Abridgment.

سورا sūrā शूर S̱. s. m. A hero: see سور sūr, sign. 1. A wife thus addresses her husband, who is preparing for battle: سورا رن مين جايکي لوها کرو نسنک نامه چڙهي رنڐاپرو نا ته چڙهي کلنک Sūrā raṇ meṅ jāʼeke lohā karo nisank; nā muhi chaṛhe ranḍāparo, nā tuhi chaṛhe kalank. O hero, when you enter the combat, wield your sword without fear; so shall I never suffer widowhood, nor you disgrace.

سجاو sajāʼo S̱. (from سجنا) s. m. Preparation, or- nament.

سوکنا sūknā S̱. (शोषण r. शुष Grow dry) v. n. To dry, to become dry.

سجنا sajnā सज्जन S̱. 1. v. n. To be prepared. 2. To fit, to become, to beseem. 3. v. a. To dress, to ornament, to accoutre, to adjust, to rectify. 4. s. m. See سجن sajan.
