سريکها sarekhā S̱. 1. s. f. (अश्लेषा) The ninth mansion of the moon, consisting of five stars, probably in Cancer. 2. adj. Cunning, sly.

سنگره संग्रह sangrah S s. m. A compilation.

سردار sar-dār P s. m. A chief, a head man, com- mander. (Plur. سرداران sardārān).

سرمه surma P s. m. A collyrium (generally considered to be antimony, but what is used in India is an ore of lead). سرمه آلوده surma- ālūda, adj. Stained with surma; whose eyes are stained with surma. سرمه دان surma-dān, or, سرمي داني surme-dānī, A box, &c. for holding surma. سرمه کش surma-kash, One who has tinged his eyes with surma, or who applies that collyrium to the eyes of any one: an en- lightener of the eye or aider of sight, &c. a dark night. سرمه کشي surma-kash-ī, The applying of surma. سرمه هونا surma honā, To be reduced to an impalpable powder.

سنجيوني بديا sanjīvanī-bidyā संजीवनी विद्या S̱. s. f. The science of vivifying or re- storing to life.

سلسلاهٿ silsilāhaṭ A. s. f. Concatenation.

سمسم sumsum H s. f. The noise of moist wood when burning, simmering.

ساننا sānnā H (caus. of سننا sannā, q. v.) v. a. To knead, to mix up (flour, dough, earth, &c.), to impregnate, stain, soil, smear, defile.

سميٿ sameṭ H (from سميٿنا sameṭnā) s. f. 1. An astringent, a medicine used by women (ad constringendam vulvam). 2. Contraction.

سپاره sipāra P (contract. of سي Thirty, and پاره A piece) s. m. One of the thirty sections, or the thirty sections into which the ḳurʼān is divided. See سيپاره.
