سعبان shaﻌbān A (from شعب) s. m. The eighth Arabian month. (The 14th day of it is the festival called برات barāt, q. v.: on this day, an angel is supposed to examine a record, on which is written the names of the living).

ساجها sājhā S̱. (साह्य or साहाय्य) s. m. Part- nership, association.

سين sain S̱. 1. (संज्ञा) s. f. A wink, sign, token, hint, a signal. سين کرنا sain karnā, To beckon. 2. or sainya (सैन्य) s. f. An army, forces. 3. (for शयन) s. m. Sleeping, repose.

سباس सुवास सु Good, and वास Smell su- bās S. s. f. Sweet smell, fragrance, odour, perfume.

سکانا sakānā H v. n. To be sorrowful, to be wearied.

سينا سيني sainā-sainī S̱. (see سين sain) s. f. Mu- tual tokens, signs, hints, or signals.

سجانا sajānā S̱. (caus. of سجنا sajnā) v. a. To cause to prepare.

سنتاپي संतापी santāp-ī S adj. Sad, sorrowful.

سريش saresh P prop. sirīsh, s. m. Glue, starch.

ستيلا satīlā S̱. (from सत्त्व) adj. Powerful, strong.
