سرسوتي सरस्वती saraswatī S s. f. The wife of Brahmā, the goddess of speech and eloquence, the patroness of musick and the arts, and the inventress of the Sanskrit language and Deva- nāgarī letters.

سکليکرم suklī-karm S̱. (शुक्लीकरण q. d. Whitening, making white) s. m. Soap.

سالي sālī श्याली S̱. s. f. Sister-in-law, wifeʼs sister, especially younger sister.

سمبندهي संबन्धी sambandh-ī S s. m. 1. Rela- tion. 2. Son or daughterʼs father-in-law.

سرهانا sir-hānā S̱. s. m. The head part or side of any thing (as, of a tomb or bedstead), the place where the head rests or reclines.

سماج समाज samāj S s. m. 1. Apparatus. 2. Society.

سپـہر sipahr P s. m. The sphere, the celestial globe, the sky, fortune, time, the world. ¶ si- pahar (comp. of سه Three, and پـہر A watch) s. m. Afternoon.

سيماب sīm-āb P (سيم Silver, and آب Water) s. m. Quicksilver, mercury.

سوٴي sūʼī सूचि S̱. s. f. A needle. سوٴي کا سينبل sūʼī kā seṅbal, A bubble. سوٴي کي ناکي سي خداٴي کو نکالنا sūʼī ke nāke se ḵẖudā-ī ko nikālnā, Applied to express the performance of things apparently impossible. Hidāyat says:-- تها کام يہہ تيراهي خداوند تعاليٰ لا سوٴي کي ناکي سي خداٴي کو نکالا

سردا sardā H s. m. A kind of watermelon.
