سنجوگ sanjog S (संयोग from सं and r. युज Join) s. m. 1. Accident, event, occurrence, chance, hap, luck. 2. Intimate union or as- sociation, conjunction.

سنت sunnat A s. f. (lit. a religious ceremony necessary to be performed; from سنّ To be constantly observing, to follow rule, or from Heb. To repeat, q. d. that which is constantly to be repeated, observed or performed) 1. Circum- cision. سنت کرنا sunnat karnā, v. a. To cir- cumcise. 2. The traditions of Muhammad, ordinance, institute, rite, right way (of life). ¶ sanat (Heb. q. d. the repetition of the same course of the sun, with its concomitant changes) s. f. A year.

سرکانا sarkānā H (caus. of سرکنا saraknā) v. a. To remove, to put on one side, to move out of the way.

سلب salb A s. m. 1. A negative argument in logick. 2. Plunder. سلب کلي salb-i-kullī, General negation. سلب جزٴي salb-i-juz-ī, Special negation.

سکي اڙانا sukke uṛānā S̱. (dakh. i. q. نا اميد کرنا nā ummed karnā) To render hopeless (?).

سير sīr शीतल S̱. s. f. Damp. See s̱. سيل.

سبزه sabza P s. m. 1. Verdure, herbage. 2. In- cipient beard, bloom. 3. A green stone worn in the ear as an ornament. سبزه زار sabza-zār, A place abounding in verdure, a meadow, mead, parterre, lawn, a green.

سندهہ sindh S or sindhu (सिंधु) s. m. 1. Sea, ocean. 2. The name of a district. 3. Name of a musical mode, or rāginī.

سعبان shaﻌbān A (from شعب) s. m. The eighth Arabian month. (The 14th day of it is the festival called برات barāt, q. v.: on this day, an angel is supposed to examine a record, on which is written the names of the living).
