سعبان shaﻌbān A (from شعب) s. m. The eighth Arabian month. (The 14th day of it is the festival called برات barāt, q. v.: on this day, an angel is supposed to examine a record, on which is written the names of the living).

سمدهي samdhī सम्बन्धी S̱. s. m. Childʼs father-in-law.

سپاري supārī H s. f. 1. Betel-nut. (Areca cate- chu). 2. Glans penis.

سونا sonā S̱. 1. (शयन) v. n. To sleep; (met.) to die. 2. or in Braj saunā (स्वर्ण) s. m. Gold. سوني کا نوالا sone kā nawālā, An expen- sive banquet, a delicious morsel.

سونہلا sonahlā S̱. (from سونا) adj. Golden. سونہلا پاني sonahlā pānī, s. m. Gilding.

سينک sīnk H s. f. The culm of the grass (Andro- pogon muricatum) of which brooms are made.

سٿکاري siṭkārī H adj. Fusiform, tapering.

سينہوا seṅhūʼā सिध्म S̱. s. m. A tetter.

سوزان sozān P part. pres. (of سوختن) Burning.

سدهاوٿ sidhāwaṭ S̱. (from سيدها) s. f. Candour, simplicity.
