زوال zawāl A (from زول) s. m. Decline, wane, de- clination, cessation; misery, wretchedness, set- ting of the sun. زوال پذير zawāl-paẕīr, adj. Transitory, fading.

زور zor P s. m. Force, strength, virtue, power, vigour, violence, effort, weight; adv. Forcibly, violently, vigorously, extremely. زورآزمائي zor-āzmā-ī, s. f. زرين zar-rīṅ P (from زر) adj. Golden. زرين مرغ zarrīṅ murg̠ẖ, s. m. 1. The name of a bird. 2. (met.) The sun.

زلال zulāl A (from زلّ) adj. Pure, limpid, whole- some (water); s. m. Water of that quality.

زرباف zar-bāf P (زر Gold, and part. of بافتن To weave) s. Brocade, gold-tissue.

زانو zānū P (s. जानु) s. m. The knee, the lap.

زيان ziyān P s. m. Hurt, harm, injury, mischief, detriment, damage, deficiency, loss. زيان کار ziyān-ḳār, adj. Doing mischief, mischievous, hurtful, injurious. زيان کاري ziyān-kār-ī, s. f. The doing mischief, the occasioning of loss or damage, hurtfulness, mischievousness. زيان کرنا ziyān karnā, To cause the harm, hurt, injury, damage, &c. (of), to injure, &c.

زال zāl P 1. adj. Old, decrepit, grey-haired (man or woman). 2. n. prop. (or زال زر) The name of the father of Rustam, and son of Sām, son of Narīmān. He was called زال زر (zāl-i-zar) because he came into the world with white hair, and a red countenance; the former like that of an old man, the latter of golden hue.
