رنجک ranjak H s. f. Priming-powder. رنجک اڙانا ranjak uṛānā, v. a. To burn priming, to flash in the pan. رنجک اڙنا ranjak uṛnā, v. n. To flash in the pan (priming). رنجک پلانا ran- jak pilānā, v. a. To prime. رنجک دان ranjak- dān, s. m. Priming-pan or firepan.

روڙا roṛā H s. m. Name of a cast of chhatrī or kshatrī (क्षत्रिय).

رساين rasāyan H s. m. Slowness, mildness.

رسيلا rasīlā S̱. (from रस Juice) adj. 1. Juicy, luscious. 2. Voluptuous, rakish.

رايتا rāʼetā H s. m. Pumkins, &c. pickled in sour milk.

رفت raft P (from رفتن) 1. s. f. in compos. Going. 2. contract. of رفته Gone, q. v.

رقت riḳḳat A (from رقّ Heb. To be thin) s. f. 1. Thinness, minuteness, attenuation, sub- tleness. 2. Affection. 3. Pity, sympathy, tenderness. 4. Weeping.

روندن raundan H s. m. Trampling, treading under foot.

رسنا rusnā S̱. v. n. See روسنا rosnā.

رابن रावण rāban S or rāvaṇa, n. prop. See راون. (It is said, that Vish̤ṇu, having an in- clination for war, occasioned a Brāhmaṇ to curse his two door-keepers जय and विजय wishing that they might be born on earth three times, returning after each time to their origi- nal forms of porters to the deity. By these means, Vish̤ṇu contrived to be nearly matched on earth, so as to have a good battle. They first appeared as Hiraṇyāksh̤a and Hiraṇya- kashipu; then, as Rāvaṇa and Kumbhakarṇa; and, lastly, as Sisupāl and Dantavaktra; in each of which characters they opposed the deity in different avatārs.
