ڐهڐها ḍahḍahā H adj. Flourishing, blooming, green, fresh; pleasing.

ڐنکا ḍankā ढक्का S̱. s. m. A double drum, a kettledrum.

ڐيـﮩڙ ḍehuṛ H s. f. A volley, several muskets dis- charged at once. ذ ذ Called ذال معجمه and ذال ثخذ is the ninth letter of the Arabic alphabet. Its existence in Persian, except as a substitute for د (see د), appears very doubtful. It is pronounced by the Arabs like th in the English word thou; but, in Hindūstānī, its sound is not to be dis- tinguished from that of ز z. In denoting num- bers by the letters of the Arabic alphabet, it stands for 700: and, by way of abbreviation, it is written for ذوالحجه the last month of the Arabic lunar year. If ذ be the first radical of an Arabic verb, the ت in the form افتعال is changed into د, and either the د or ذ is changed into the other of the two, which is doubled; as, from ذکر comes اذّکر or ادّکر.

ڐهوکنا ḍhūknā H v. n. 1. To shut, to close. 2. To steal on, to draw nigh, to approach. 3. To go into, to enter.

ڐنکاٴي ḍankā-ī S̱. s. f. Wages of a beater of the kettledrum.

ڐانس ḍāṅs दंश S̱. s. m. 1. The sting of a rep- tile. 2. A large musquito, a gadfly.

ڐهوروا ḍhūrwā H s. m. A pea.

ڐگ ḍag H s. f. A pace, one step (measure).

ڐار ḍār H s. f. Branch, bough. See ڐال.

ڐورا ḍorā H s. m. 1. Thread, line, cord, &c. 2. Edge of a sword, &c. آنکهـ کا ڐورا ānkh kā ḍorā, A bloodshot eye, vessels distended with blood on the tunica conjunctiva of the eye (from in- toxication or other cause). ڐوري ڐالنا ḍore ḍālnā, v. a. 1. To stitch a quilt. 2. To utter a long continued sound like the Amaduvade (Fringilla amandava). گردن کا ڐورا gardan kā ḍorā, A graceful motion of the neck in dancing.
