ڐيـﮩڙ ḍehuṛ H s. f. A volley, several muskets dis- charged at once. ذ ذ Called ذال معجمه and ذال ثخذ is the ninth letter of the Arabic alphabet. Its existence in Persian, except as a substitute for د (see د), appears very doubtful. It is pronounced by the Arabs like th in the English word thou; but, in Hindūstānī, its sound is not to be dis- tinguished from that of ز z. In denoting num- bers by the letters of the Arabic alphabet, it stands for 700: and, by way of abbreviation, it is written for ذوالحجه the last month of the Arabic lunar year. If ذ be the first radical of an Arabic verb, the ت in the form افتعال is changed into د, and either the د or ذ is changed into the other of the two, which is doubled; as, from ذکر comes اذّکر or ادّکر.

ڐسنا ḍasnā दंशन S̱. v. a. To bite or sting (as, a venomous animal).

ڐکريا ḍukariyā H adj. f. Old (women).

ڐابر ḍābar H s. m. 1. A vessel for washing hands in. 2. A round tank. ڐابرنيني ḍābar nain-ī, Having large eyes (epithet peculiar to women; ḍābaṛ in Panjābī being great).

ڐول ḍaul H s. m. 1. Manner, method, mode. 2. Shape, fashion, form.

ڐهيا ḍhaiyā H (आढक) s. m. A measure of two and a half ser. ڐهياٿيکر ḍhaiyā ṭekar (from ڐهـﮩ‍ا Fallen, and ٿيکر A rising ground) adj. De- solated.

ڐهور ḍhor H s. m. Cattle.

ڐهلکانا ḍhalkānā H (caus. of ڐهلکنا) v. a. To tilt, to overturn, to spill, to pour, to roll. ¶ ḍhul- kānā, v. a. (dakh.) To incite, instigate.

ڐهپنا ḍhapnā H 1. v. n. To be covered, to be concealed or hidden. 2. s. m. A cover, co- vering.

ڐهاڙهي ḍhāṛhī H s. m. A kind of musician, a singer.
