دسا दिशा disā S s. f. Side, quarter, point (of the compass). دساکرنا disā karnā, To travel.

دهمکاهٿ dhamkā-haṭ H (from دهمکانا) s. f. Threatening.

دهريچا dharīchā H s. m. The second husband of a Hindū widow among the lower classes. (This connexion, being contrary to the spirit of the Hindū institutions, is formed without any par- ticular ceremony, except marking the brideʼs head with minium).

دهارا धारा dhārā S s. f. A stream, a current. S. دهارن धारण (r. धृ Hold, bear) dhāraṇ, ver- bal n. s. Holding, bearing, sustaining, upholding, assuming, keeping. See دهارنا dhārnā.

دسانس दशांश dasāns S s. m. Tenth part.

دهنا duhnā S̱. (intrans. of دوهنا q. v.) v. n. To be milked.

دکهانا dukhānā S̱. (caus. of دکهنا dukhnā) v. a. To inflict pain, to torment, to hurt, to pain.

A guardian deity of one of the ten (दिश् dis) regions or points (of the com- pass: i. e. ब्रह्मा Brahmā, for upwards; अनंत Ananta, for downwards; इन्द्र Indra, for east; अग्नि Agni, for southeast; यम Yama, for south; नैर्ऋत Nairr̤ita, for southwest; वरुण Varuṇa, for west; वायु Vāyu or पवन Pa- vana, for northwest; कुवेर Kuvera, for north; ईशान Īsāna or शिव Siva, for northeast).
