دوها dohā S̱. s. m. A couplet, distich (in Braj. Sans. द्विपथ).

دلوالي dilwālī H (دلي and والا) s. m. An inhabi- tant of دلي dillī or دهلي dihlī. دلي کي دلوالي منـﮩـ چکنا پيٿ خالي dillī ke dilwālī muṅh-chiknā peṭ-ḵẖālī, The inhabitants of Dihlī appear to be opulent, when in fact they are starving. (A proverb used to expose the vanity and indigence prevalent in that city).

دهونا dhonā धावन S̱. v. a. To wash, washing.

ددهيل dudhail S̱. (from دودهـ) adj. f. Milch, giving milk. H. S̱. دديال dadiyāl (from دادا Grandfather, and Sans. आलय House) s. m. Descent (by an- cestors), pedigree, ancestors, paternal grandfatherʼs family.

دبوسا dabūsā P. (دبوسه) s. m. The cabin of a ship, stern.

درنده daranda P or darinda, part. act. (of دريدن Tearing; (adjec- tively) Rapacious, fierce, ravenous; (subst.) Ravenous beast, beast of prey.

دهمکانا dhamkā-nā H v. a. To threaten, menace, chide, snub, cow, daunt.

دوڙا dauṛā H s. m. 1. A large basket (without lid). See دورا daurā. 2. (from s̱. دوڙنا q. v.) A highwayman (who robs on horseback).

داروغگي dārog̠ẖa-gī P s. f. The office or duty of داروغه dārog̠ẖa, q. v.

دهنون dahnauṅ दहन S̱. v. n. (in Braj) To burn.
