دوار dawār दाव S̱. s. f. Fire that breaks out in woods.

دکپال दिक् Region, and पाल Preserver dikpāl S. s. m. A guardian deity of one of the ten (दिश् dis) regions or points (of the com- pass: i. e. ब्रह्मा Brahmā, for upwards; अनंत Ananta, for downwards; इन्द्र Indra, for east; अग्नि Agni, for southeast; यम Yama, for south; नैर्ऋत Nairr̤ita, for southwest; वरुण Varuṇa, for west; वायु Vāyu or पवन Pa- vana, for northwest; कुवेर Kuvera, for north; ईशान Īsāna or शिव Siva, for northeast).

دفعه dafʼaﻌ A s. f. Time, a moment, one time, one turn. دفعه بدفعه dafʼaﻌ ba-dafʼaﻌ, adv. From time to time, repeatedly. دفعه دار dafʼaﻌ-dār, s. m. An officer of cavalry so called.

داني زاد dāne-zād P. adj. (dakh.) See بخيل baḵẖīl. P. H. داو dāʼo, s. m. 1. A bill or kind of hatchet with a hooked point. 2. Vicissitude, turn, op- portunity, stake, wager, &c. See p. and h. دانو dāṅw. داو باندهنا يا بدنا dāo-bāndhnā or -badnā, To bet, to wager.

دچتا du-chitā S̱. (द्विचित्त) adj. Of two minds, wavering, distracted. S. دچهـ दक्ष (r. दक्ष Increase, make haste) dachh̤, adj. 1. Learned, scientifick, dexterous, able.

دهيما dhīm-ā H adj. 1. Slow, lazy. 2. Gentle, mild, temperate, abated, allayed. دهيمي دهيمي dhīme dhīme, adv. Gently, softly.

دار dār A (Heb. and Ch. To encircle, to dwell) s. m. A dwelling, a mansion, habitation, abode, country. دار الامان dāru-l-amān, s. m. The house of safety, i. e. a country with which there is peace. دار البقا dāru-l-baḳā, The abode of permanency, i. e. the next world. دار البوار dāru-l-bawār, s. m. The abode of perdition, i. e. hell. دار الخلافت يا سلطنت يا امارت يا حکومت dāru-l-ḵẖilāfat or -salt̤anat, or -imārat, -or ḥukūmat, s. m. The seat of empire, the royal residence, the capital. دار الحرب dāru-l-ḥarb (lit. The mansion of war) A country where the Muhammadan religion does not pre- vail. دار السلام dāru-s-salām, The mansion of safety, heaven. دار الشرع dāru-sh-sharﻌ, A court of law, a spiritual court. دار الشفا يا مرض dāru-sh-shifā or -l-maraẓ, s. m. The abode of frailty or of mortality, i. e. the world. دار القرار dāru-l-ḳarār, The mansion of rest, i. e. the grave. دار المکافات dāru-l-mukāfāt, The abode of recompense or retaliation; the world. دار و دسته dār-o-dasta, House and family.
