خواجه ḵẖẉāja P s. m. A man of distinction, a rich merchant, a gentleman, a governour. خواجه خضر ḵẖẉāja ḵẖiẓr, n. prop. The name of a prophet skilled in divination, and who is said to have discovered the water of life; hence, he is considered as the saint of waters. The Mu- hammadans offer to him oblations of lamps, flowers, &c. placed on little rafts and launched on the river, particularly on Thursday evening in the month of bhādoṅ: and, it is in his ho- nour that the feast of the beṛa, q. v. is held. خواجه زاده ḵẖẉāja-zāda, s. m. Master. خواجه سرا ḵẖẉāja-sarā, s. m. An eunuch.

خونچه ḵẖụncha P (properly خوانچه) s. m. A small tray.

خانه ḵẖāna P s. m. 1. House, place, dwelling, chamber, room. 2. A drawer, a partition, com- partment. 3. Department. (Plur. خانجات ḵẖā- najāt). خانه آباد ḵẖāna ābād, 1. adj. Pros- perous. 2. (A benediction meaning) may your house flourish. خانه آبادي ḵẖāna-ābād-ī, s. f. Prosperity. خانه بدوش ḵẖāna-ba-dosh, adj. (used substantively) A traveller, a pilgrim, a gipsey, rover, sojourner. خانه برانداز ḵẖāna-bar- andāz, A prodigal, a spendthrift. خانه بردوشي ḵẖāna-bar-dosh-ī, s. f. Travelling, roving, wan- dering. خانه جنگ ḵẖāna-jang, A breeder of disturbances, a duellist. خانه جنگي ḵẖāna- jang-ī, s. f. Civil war, skirmish, duel, bickering. خانه خانه ḵẖāna-ḵẖāna, adj. Cellular. خانه خراب ḵẖāna ḵẖarāb, adj. 1. Ruined. 2. Base, abject; a vain, empty fellow. خانه خرابي ḵẖā- na-ḵẖarāb-ī, s. f. Ruin. خانه خدا ḵẖāna-ḵẖudā, Master of a house. خانه دار ḵẖāna-dār, s. m. Householder. خانه داري ḵẖāna-dār-ī, s. f. The state of the master of a family, housekeeping. خانه داماد ḵẖāna-dāmād, A son-in-law who lives in the house of his wifeʼs father. خانه دوست ḵẖāna-dost, Fond of staying at home. (A term of abuse). خانه زاد ḵẖāna-zād, The child of a slave. خانهٴ زنجير ḵẖāna-i-zanjīr, A prison or mad-house. خانه سوز ḵẖāna-soz, House-burner, incendiary. خانه نشين ḵẖāna-nishīn, Sitting in the house; retired, unemployed.

خصم ḵẖaṣm A s. m. 1. An enemy, antagonist. 2. ¶ ḵẖaṣam, A husband. خصم والي ḵẖaṣam-wālī, adj. f. A woman whose husband is alive. A. P. خصمانه ḵẖaṣm-āna, adv. Like a good hus- band, economically, with attention to domestick affairs.

خرمي ḵẖurram-ī P s. f. Cheerfulness, pleasure, delight, gladness, gayety, mirth. P. A. خرنفس ḵẖar-nafs, adj. Magnum penem habens.

خريداري ḵẖarīdār-ī P s. f. Buying, purchasing.

خيرات ḵẖairāt A s. f. (pl. of خير) Alms, charity.

خاگ ḵẖāg P s. An egg.

خرسند ḵẖursand P adj. Contented, satisfied, pleased.

خلف ḵẖalaf A s. m. 1. A successour, an heir, a favourite son, posterity, descendants. 2. (ad- jectively) Depraved, corrupted. خلف الصدق ḵẖalafu-ṣ-ṣidḳ, True or rightful heir. ¶ ḵẖulf, Breach of promise.
