چوب chob P (or Pers. chūb) s. f. 1. Wood. 2. A post. 3. A drumstick, a stick, a club. چوب کاري chob-kār-ī or کارچوبي kār-chobī, s. f. 1. Beating with a stick. 2. A kind of embroidery.

چهيکا chhīkā S̱. s. m. A sling for carrying baskets, &c. See چهينکا chhīnkā.

چهيلچهبيلا chhelchhabelā H adj. (dakh.) See خوش باش ḵẖụsh bāsh, under خوش ḵẖụsh.

چباولا chabā-olā H adj. Childish, boyish.

چپکنا chipaknā H v. n. 1. To stick, to adhere. 2. To spread or sink (as, ink on damp paper). 3. To be compressed. چپک جانا chipak jānā, v. a. 1. To be sold on account of its sweetness. 2. To fall in love at first sight.

چ che or chīm, called also jīm-i-fārsī or jīm-i-aﻌjamī, the seventh letter of the Persian alphabet, sounds like ch in the English word cheek. It does not occur in Arabic. If used to denote a number, according to the abjad, it stands for 3, like ج (jīm). The permutations of the letter چ are the following; into ژ as کاژ for کاچ Glass, a pine tree; into ز as پزشک pizishk for پچشک pichishk, A physician or apothecary; into ش as کاشي for کاچي Made of glass; into ج as کاج for کاچ; and, arabistically, into ص as صين for چين China. This letter corresponds to च in Sanskrit, and when aspirated, or with ه affixed, to छ.

چکن chikkan S (चिक्कण) adj. 1. Clean, po- lished, smooth. 2. Beautiful (persons). 3. Greasy, oily, fat (as meat), glossy, sleek, slip- pery. 4. Incontinent, lewd, wanton. چکنا باسن يا گهڙا بنا chiknā-bāsan or -ghaṛā bannā, To be incontinent, incorrigible, deaf to admonition. چکنا چاندا chiknā-chāndā (चिक्कणचंद्र) adj. Beautiful. چکني جورو chiknī jorū, s. f. A slip- pery wife. چکني سپاري chiknī supārī, s. f. A kind of betel-nut prepared by boiling. چکني صورت chiknī ṣūrat, Prosperous, affluent, flourishing. چکني مٿي chiknī-miṭṭī (चिक्कणमृत्तिका) s. f. Clay.

چوان choʼān S̱. (see چونا chūnā) s. f. Dropping, dripping.

چمٿنا chimaṭnā H v. n. To adhere, to stick.

چهندي chhandī छन्न S̱. adj. Deceitful.
