چهن chhan H s. A sound made by the falling of a drop of water upon a warm plate.

چهچهلي chhichhlī H s. f. The play of ducks and drakes. چهچهلي کهيلنا chhichhlī khelnā, To play at ducks and drakes.

چمک chummak चुम्बक S̱. s. m. A loadstone.

چرانا chirānā S̱. (causal of چيرنا) v. a. To cause to tear or be torn, cause to split.

چتي chittī चित्र S̱. s. f. 1. A scar, a spot, freckle, &c. 2. A kind of serpent. 3. A kauṛī worn smooth with rubbing. چتي دار chittī-dār, adj. Speckled. چتي لانا chittī lānā, To scar.

چيونٿي chyūnṭī H s. f. The diminutive of چيونٿا chyūnṭā, q. v. See also چينٿي chīnṭī. ح ح Commonly called ḥā-i-muhmala or ḥā-i-ḥut̤t̤ī, the sixth letter of the Arabic alphabet, does not occur in Persian, nor is there in Sanskrit any letter corresponding to it. It is one of the six guttural letters; its sound being an aspiration much stronger, and formed deeper in the throat than that of ه. In reckoning by abjad it stands for eight: and, in astronomical tables, it denotes the sign, Sagittarius. It is sometimes substituted for ه; as, in ضحاک which is for ده آک (ten vices; the proper name of that prince being بيورسپ or the lord of 10,000 horse; بيور in Darī signifying 10,000). ه Is sometimes used for it; as نـﮩ‍اوند nahāwand, properly نوح آوند nūḥ-āwand, the name of a city built by Noah, and also the name of a mode in musick.

چاهيتا chāhītā S̱. (from इच्छा Desire) adj. Agree- able, desirable, beloved; sub. A sweetheart, one beloved, a darling.

چوري chūrī H s. f. 1. A bread rich with ghī. 2. (s̱. see چوڙي) Bracelet.

چهڙکاؤ chhiṛkāʼo H s. m. Sprinkling, watering.

چڙبڙبولنا يا کرنا chaṛbaṛ-bolnā H or -karnā, v. a. To chatter, to prattle.
