اتیت atīt अतिथि S̱. s. m. A wanderer, pil- grim, a fakīr (among Hindūs). See اتته atithi.

اڙگن uṛgan S̱. (उडु A constellation, and गण A multitude) s. plur. The stars; the starry firma- ment.

انجمن anjuman P s. f. An assembly, a meeting, company, banquet.

اره arra P s. m. A saw. اره کش arra-kash, A sawyer. اره سرپرچلانا arra sir par chalānā, To oppress any one, to commit violence. سرپراري چل گئي تو بهي مدار مدار sir par arre chal gaʼe tau bhī madār madār, He has incurred punish- ment and disgrace, yet he has not reformed his manners.

ابشیک abishek S̱. (अभिषेक from अभि and r. सिच Sprinkle) s. m. Bathing, baptizing, sprinkling with the water of the Ganges, initiation, royal unction; purification by means of sprinkling water and pronouncing certain prayers.

ادق adaḳḳ A adj. compar. (from دقیق) More or very abtruse, difficult, fine or minute.

آسیب āseb P s. m. A misfortune (generally meaning such misfortune as is the consequence of the shadow of a demon having fallen on one, and the like), trouble, calamity, damage.

استہزا istihzā A (inf. x. of هزا) s. m. Derision, laughing at, joke, jest, scorn, scoff. S. استهل स्थल (r. ष्ठल Stand) asthal or sthal, s. m. Place, site, soil, dry or firm ground; place or stand of a faḳīr.

استویست astavyast S adj. See استبیست. S. استهان स्थान (r. ष्ठा Stand) asthān or sthān, s. m. Place, abode, residence. S. استهر स्थिर (r. ष्ठा Stand) isthir or sthir, adj. Settled, steady, firm, fixed.
