چلانا chalānā S̱. (चालन or caus. of چلنا q. v.) v. a. 1. To impel, set a going, make to go or pass, to drive, actuate, direct. 2. To fire a musket or cannon, to shoot at, to do, hasten, forward, send, accustom, act, advance, utter, throw, thrust, use, walk.

چنگ chang P s. f. 1. A claw. 2. The hand expanded. 3. A kind of guitar, a harp. 4. Fame, report. 5. A paper kite which they fly at night. 6. The name of a suit at cards: see under تاج tāj. چنگ نوازي chang-nawāz-ī, s. f. Playing on the guitar, &c.

چوبا chobā P s. m. A stake, a post.

چـﮩ‍لا chuhlā H s. m. A large wooden peg, a tent-pin.

چدنا chudnā H v. n. Feminam subigere.

چاره chāra H s. m. 1. Forage, fodder, food for cattle, bait for fish. چاره ڐالنا chāra ḍālnā, To bait. 2. A young plant.

چهاندا chhāndā H s. m. Share, part (among fa- ḳīrs).

چترکار चित्रकार chitr-kār S s. m. A portrait- painter, a painter.

چمکانا chamkānā H (caus. of چمکنا) v. a. 1. To cause to glitter. 2. To provoke, to make to start, to startle. 3. To wave, brandish, flourish, brighten, burnish. 4. To display.

چبينا chabenā चर्वण S̱. s. m. Parched grain to exercise the teeth with when more substan- tial food is not at hand.
