چوڙان chauṛān H (from چوڙا) s. f. m. Width, breadth.

چهيمنکري क्षेमंकरी chh̤emankarī S s. f. A sort of kite. (Falco ponticerianus).

چونٿلا chonṭlā H s. m. 1. The ribbon with which hair is tied or braided at the end, the cue or lock of hair behind. 2. False hair mixed with the real.

چچڙي chichṛī H s. f. A tick or louse (of dogs and sheep).

چتنا chitnā H v. n. To look, see, behold.

چٿک chaṭak H s. f. 1. A crash, a crack, a smack. 2. Intelligence, gaudiness. 3. Glitter, splendour, prime of life. 4. adj. Intelligent, quick. چٿک سي chaṭak se, adv. Deceiving. چٿک سي جانا chaṭak se jānā, To pay with the fore topsail. چٿک واٴي chaṭāk-wāʼī, s. f. Quickness.

چغد chug̠ẖd P s. m. An owl.

چهيجنا chhījnā H v. n. To decrease, to pine away. ديکها ديکهي کيجي جوگ چهيجي کايا باڙهي روگ dekhā dekhī kīje jog, chhīje kāyā bāṛhe rog, They who merely imitate others in austerity, waste away, and their diseases in- crease.

چکٿ chikkaṭ H adj. Filthy, covered with grease and dirt.

چ che or chīm, called also jīm-i-fārsī or jīm-i-aﻌjamī, the seventh letter of the Persian alphabet, sounds like ch in the English word cheek. It does not occur in Arabic. If used to denote a number, according to the abjad, it stands for 3, like ج (jīm). The permutations of the letter چ are the following; into ژ as کاژ for کاچ Glass, a pine tree; into ز as پزشک pizishk for پچشک pichishk, A physician or apothecary; into ش as کاشي for کاچي Made of glass; into ج as کاج for کاچ; and, arabistically, into ص as صين for چين China. This letter corresponds to च in Sanskrit, and when aspirated, or with ه affixed, to छ.
