جفته jufta P adj. 1. Bent, wrinkled. 2. Running together (the threads in cloth). P.S̱. جفتي کهانا juftī khānā, v. a. To copulate, to pair (as, birds).

جهاڙ jhāṛ H s. m. 1. Bushes, brambles, bush, shrub, brake, underwood. 2. A kind of fire- work. 3. A lustre or chandelier, the same as پنج شاخه panj-shāḵẖa, q. v. under پنجه. 4. A purge. 5. Juggling, conjuring, hocus pocus (particularly, to cure the bite of a snake or a disease). جهاڙجهٿک jhāṛ jhaṭak, s. f. Sweeping. جهاڙجهنکهار jhāṛ jhankhār, s. m. Brambles, large dry bushes. جهاڙجهوڙ jhāṛ jhūṛ, s. f. 1. Sweepings; perquisites. 2. Thick- et. جهاڙکهنڐ jhāṛ-khanḍ, 1. adj. Bushy. 2. s. m. A forest, the forest of Baijnāth.

جگتي jugatī युक्ति S̱. adj. Artful, clever, cun- ning, economical, facetious, punning.

جبا jibā P s. m. Tax, revenue.

جاوک यावक jāwak S s. m. the red colour procured from the lākh insect. See التا altā.

جهلم jhilam H s. f. 1. Armour, a coat of mail. 2. The visor of a helmet. جهلم کا ٿوپ jhilam ka ṭop, An iron helmet.

جهٿکا jhaṭkā H (from جهٿکنا) 1. part. Slaughtered by cutting off the head (in the Hindū way), bro- ken asunder or torn by a sudden jerk, torn to pieces. 2. s. m. A shake, a pull, a twitch. جهٿکا کرنا jhaṭkā karnā, v. a. (dakh.) 1. To steal, filch. 2. (i. q. جلدي کرنا) To make haste, to be precipitate.

جن jinn A s. m. A genius, spirit, demon, one of the Genii.
