جبان jabān A (from جبن) adj. Pusillanimous.

جلساخطيبي jalsā-ḵẖat̤ībī A. s. f. The sitting down of the ḵẖat̤īb between the reading of the first and second ḵẖut̤ba.

جمـﮩ‍اٴي jamhāʼī S̱. (जंभा or जृंभा r. जभ or जृभ Yawn, gape) s. f. Gaping, yawning. جمـﮩ‍اٴي لينا jamhāʼī lenā, To gape, to yawn.

جيتک jetik यावत् S̱. adv. See جيتا jetā.

جهورا jhūrā S̱. (see جهورنا) adj. Withered.

جهوٿا jhūṭā S̱. (जुष्ट or उच्छिष्ट) adj. 1. Liar, false. 2. (among Hindūs) That which has touched food and is thereby defiled. 3. Offal, refuse, left (food); s. m. Leavings of food. جهوٿاجهاٿا jhūṭā jhāṭā, s. m. Offals, left food. جهوٿهاچاٿنا jhūṭhā chāṭnā, To eat leavings, to be very wretched. جهوٿهي نپوچهنا jhūṭhī na pūchhnā, To refuse even common civility.

جنبش jumbish P (from جنبيدن) s. f. Motion, moving, agitation, shake, vibration, gesture.

جلاب jullāb A s. m. A purge. (q. d. Drawing, from جلب Drew; and, in this sense, it is generally used in India: but, Golius says) A mixture of water and sirup (perfumed with rose- water, from Pers. گل A rose, and آب Water); hence, julap. S̱.H. جلا بلا jalā-balā, adj. 1. Fretful, passionate. 2. Scorched. See جل بل. S̱.H. جلا بهنا jalā-bhunā, adj. Passionate, hot-tem- pered. S̱.H. جلاپا jalāpā, s. m. (dakh.) Envy, anger.

جوجن jojan S (योजन) s. m. A measure of four cos (کوس kos, q. v.).

جـﮩ‍اد jihād A (inf. iii. of جـﮩد) s. m. War (espe- cially, against infidels).
