جيد jaiyid A (from جود) adj. Excellent, ele- gant, arable, fertile.

حيز ḥaiyiz A (from حاز) s. m. 1. A place, part, a tract of ground. 2. A court-yard, an area.

سيد saiyid A (verbal adj. from سود) s. m. 1. A lord, a prince. 2. A descendant of Ḥusain, who was the grandson of the prophet Muḥammad. سيد الانام saiyidu-l-anām (the prince of men and of all living creatures), سيد البشر saiyidu-l-bashar (the prince of mortals), سيد المرسلين يا انبيا saiyidu-l-mursalīn or -ambiyā (the head of the apostles, or prophets) are epithets of Muḥammad.

شايسته shāyista P or shāyasta, adj. Worthy, ho- nourable, suitable, proper, expedient, wellbred, polite. شايسته مزاج shāyasta-mizāj, adj. Affa- ble, mild, goodtempered.

متدين mutadaiyin A (part. act. V. of دين) adj. Orthodox, religious, honest.

متعين mutaʼaﻌiyin A (part. act. V. from عين Heb. and Chald. ) adj. Appointed, fixed, consti- tuted, deputed, determined; s. m. Deputy, agent. متعين کرنا mutaʼaﻌiyin karna, To appoint, depute, &c.

متغير mutag̠ẖaiyir A (part. act. V. from غير) adj. Changed, inconsistent, disturbed, stupified, per- plexed.

مخير muḵẖaiyir A (part. act. II. of خير) adj. 1. Bountiful, charitable, liberal. 2. Left to free choice, indifferent, giving an option of two things.
