بطيخ bit̤t̤īḵẖ A s. m. A muskmelon. P. A. بظاهر ba-z̤āhir, In appearance, on the outside, externally.

تسطير tast̤īr A (inf. ii. of سطر) s. f. Delineating, writing.

تعطيل taﻌt̤īl A (inf. ii. of عطل) s. f. 1. Abandoning, neglecting. 2. Rendering useless. 3. Laying waste, vacation. (Friday is the تعطيل کا روز taﻌt̤īl kā roz of Muhammadan school boys).

تقطير taḳt̤īr A (inf. ii. of قطر) s. f. Distilling, drop- ping (particles of urine), strangury.

جلساخطيبي jalsā-ḵẖat̤ībī A. s. f. The sitting down of the ḵẖat̤īb between the reading of the first and second ḵẖut̤ba.

خراطين ḵẖarāt̤īn A (from خرط) s. m. An earth- worm.

خطيب ḵẖat̤īb A (from خطاب) s. m. A preacher, a publick speaker or orator.

خطير ḵẖat̤īr A (from خطر) adj. Great, important, honourable, dignified.

سلاطين salāt̤īn A s. plur. of سلطان sult̤ān, q. v.

شياطين shayāt̤īn A s. plur. (of شيطان) Devils.

طوطي t̤ūt̤ī P (from Pers. توتي) s. f. A parrot, a paroquet. طوطي کي سي هونٿهـ مل ڐالنا t̤ūt̤ī ke se honṭh mal ḍālnā (lit.) To rub or twist oneʼs parrot-like lips, is used by way of an affectionate or friendly admonition; thus: بولا نکراي يار تو هر يک سي بگڙکر مل ڐاليگا طوطي سي کوٴي هونٿهـ پکڙکر Bolā na kar ai yār tū har yak se bigaṛkar; mal ḍālegā t̤ūt̤ī se koʼī honṭh pakaṛkar, Do not, my love, indulge in the habit of speaking an- grily to every one; lest some one should twist those lips of thine which emulate the parrotʼs in redness.

طين t̤īn A s. Clay, earth.

طينت t̤īnat A (Ch. ) s. f. 1. A piece of clay. 2. Nature, temperament, disposition, genius.

لطيف lat̤īf A adj. Elegant, agreeable, kind, cour- teous, benevolent, minute, subtile, fine, delicious, exquisite, witty. لطيف طبع lat̤īf-t̤abﻌ, Of gen- tle dispositions, &c.

لطيفه lat̤īfa A s. m. A pleasantry, jest, joke, raillery, rarity, elegance. لطيفه گو lat̤īfa-go, A facetious person, a jester, witty.
