سونا sonā S̱. 1. (शयन) v. n. To sleep; (met.) to die. 2. or in Braj saunā (स्वर्ण) s. m. Gold. سوني کا نوالا sone kā nawālā, An expen- sive banquet, a delicious morsel.

سوندها sondhā S̱. (from सुगंध) s. m. 1. A com- position of fragrant substances used for washing the hair. 2. Smelling like that of a new earthen vessel when wetted or from parching of pulse.

سوندهاهٿ sondhā-haṭ S̱. s. f. 1. Fragrance. 2. A smell like that of new earth.

سوندهنا sondhnā S̱. (शोधन Purifying) v. a. 1. To rub cloth in mud preparatory to washing. 2. To mix, to smear.

سوندهي sondhe S̱. (from सुगंध) adj. Fragrant, smelling like new earth.

سوندي sondī S̱. s. f. The wash in which washer- men steep their cloth.

سونوگهن sonoghan H s. Sign, signal, hint, symbol.

سونيا soniyā S̱. (from سونا) s. m. One who sepa- rates gold from ashes, &c. in the mint.

سونٿ sonṭ S. s. (dakh.) See سونٿهہ sonṭh.

سونٿا sonṭā H s. m. A club, mace, pestle. سونٿي بردار sonṭe-bardār, A macebearer; a person in the retinue of the great, armed with a short curved club, generally covered with silver.

سونٿهوراي sonṭhūrāʼe S̱. adj. Hard, miserly. (A ludicrous expression, q. d. chief of misers).

سونٿهہ sonṭh शुंठी S̱. s. f. Dry ginger; (met.) a miser. سونٿهہ کي سي ناس لي رهنا sonṭh kī sī nās le rahnā, To endure, to wait patiently, to suffer. سونٿهہ کي ناس نه لينا sonṭh kī nās na lenā, To be very covetous.

سونہرا sonahrā S̱. adj. Golden. See سونہلا.
