آسایش āsāʼịsh P (from آسودن) s. f. Rest, ease, tranquillity, repose, quiet.

برساؤ barsāʼū S̱. (from برسانا) part. act. Raining.

جلساٴي jal-sāʼī जलशायी S̱. (lit. sleeping on the water) adj. An epithet of Vish̤ṇu, when, after the destruction of the universe, he alone of all beings remains floating on the water, on a leaf of the baṛ or Ficus Indica, or on the great snake ananta.

دهساو dhasāʼo H (from دهسنا) s. m. A slough, bog, quagmire, a swamp.

ساؤنگي sāʼūngī H s. f. See سانگي sāngī.

سائي sāʼe P part. (of ساييدن) in compos. Rub- bing, &c.: see سا sā, sign. 3. ¶ sā-ī, in compos. s. f. Rubbing. جبين سائي jabīn-sā-ī, s. f. Rubbing the forehead (on the ground in adoration).

ساعد sāʼiﻌd A (from Heb. to prop, to sustain) s. f. The arm from the wrist to the elbow, the fore arm.

ساعي sāʼīﻌ A (part. act. of سعي) 1. s. m. An at- tempter, an endeavourer. 2. A recommender. 3. adj. Earnest, eager, assiduous.

ساير sāʼịr A 1. s. m. The whole. 2. The re- mainder. 3. part. act. (of سير) Going, walking, wandering. 4. Tax, duty, levied on personal property.

سايل sāʼịl A 1. (part. act. of سأل Heb. To ask) adj. Asking; s. m. An interrogator, asker, querist, a beggar. 2. (part. act. of سيل) adj. Flowing, fluid.

ساٴو sāʼū साधु S̱. 1. adj. Tractable. 2. s. m. A relation.

ساٴيس sāʼīs A (part. act. of ساس He ruled, go- verned; or, from Heb. A horse) s. m. A groom, a horse-keeper.

ساٴيسي sāʼīs-ī A. s. f. The business of a groom.

ساٴين sāʼīṅ स्वामी S̱. s. m. 1. Lord, master. 2. (met.) A faḳīr. 3. The deity. 4. An imi- tative sound, as of wind. P. S̱. سايه sāya (Sans. छाया) s. m. 1. Shadow, shade, shelter, protection. 2. An apparition, spectre. 3. A petticoat. سايه بان sāya-bān, See سايبان sāya-bān. سايه تلي آنا sāya tale ānā, To take protection or shelter. سايه کسيکا پڙنا sāya kisī kā paṛnā, To imitate the manner of another. سايه دار sāya-dār, 1. Shady. 2. A protector. سايه گستر sāya-gustar, Spreading a shade, shading; shader, favourer. سايه هونا کسي کو sāya honā kisī ko, A demon appearing to, or possessing any one.
