آتما आत्मा ātmā S s. f. The soul, the body, the self, the mind, the understanding. (Hence the Greek *autmh).

آزما āzmā P part. (in compos.) Trying, proving. P. H. آزمانا āzmā-nā, v. a. To try, to prove, to examine; to touch gold, &c. on the touchstone.

آزمایش āzmāʼịsh P (from آزمودن) s. f. Trial, proof, examination, essay, experiment.

آسریمایا आसुरीमाया āsurī-māyā S s. f. De- ception of demons.

آسما āsmā P s. See آسمان āsmān.

آسمان āsmān P (comp. of آس ās, A millstone, and مانند Like) s. m. The sky, the firmament, heaven, the celestial orb. آسمان پر قدم رکهنا āsmān par ḳadam rakhnā, To give oneʼs self airs, to aspire, to be vain. آسمان پر کهینچنا

آسماني āsmān-ī P adj. Heavenly, celestial, from heaven, sky-coloured, cerulean, azure. آسماني تیروغیره āsmānī tīr wa g̠ẖairah, An arrow, &c. shot in the air. S. اسمرت स्मृति (r. समृ Remember) ismirti or smr̤iti, s. f. The Hindū law.

آشمال āsh-māl P adj. Pottage or porridge rub- ber (perhaps one who lives by rubbing of pot- tage from vessels).

آماج āmāj P s. m. A mound or heap of earth on which a mark is fixed to shoot arrows at, a mark or butt for shooting arrows at, an instru- ment with which land is ploughed, a throne, the twenty-fourth part of a parasang. آماجگاه āmāj- gāh, The place where the mark is fixed for shooting arrows at.

آماده āmāda P adj. Prepared, ready, alert.

آمادگي āmāda-gī P s. f. Readiness, alertness.

آماس āmās P s. m. Swelling. آماس کرنا āmās karnā, To swell.

ابهمان अभिमान abhimān S s. m. Pride, haughtiness, self-conceit, arrogance.

ابهماني abhimān-ī S adj. Proud, haughty.

اتمام itmām A (inf. iv. of تمام) s. m. Perfecting, perfection, completion, accomplishment. اتمام کرنا itmām karnā, To complete, accomplish, perfect. اتمام هونا itmām honā, To be completed, &c.
