آفت āfat A s. f. Calamity, misfortune, wretch- edness. (Sans. आपत्). آفت رسیده āfat- rasīda, or آفت زده āfat-zada, Overtaken or oppressed by calamity; unfortunate, wretched.

اضافت iẓāfat A (inf. iv. of ضیف) s. f. Addi- tion, adjunct, reference, annexion; construc- tion of one noun with another.

الفت ulfat A s. f. Friendship, familiarity, inti- macy, society, affection, attachment, kindness.

الفتي ulfatī A adj. Friendly, affectionate, de- rived from friendship. الفتي بنده ulfatī banda, Attached from friendship.

حرفت ḥirfat A s. f. 1. Trade, art, profession, craft. 2. Skill, inge- nuity, cleverness, cunning. 3. (dakh.) See مکر makr.

خرافت ḵẖurāfat A (from خرف Heb. ) s. f. A fable, tale, romance, ludicrous saying, smut. (Plur. خرافات ḵẖurāfāt, Fables, &c.)

خفت ḵẖiffat A s. f. Lightness of weight, levity of conduct, want of dignity, affront, indignity, slight, disgrace. خفت کرنا ḵẖiffat karnā, To vilify, to slander, affront.

خلافت ḵẖilāfat A (from خلف) s. f. 1. Deputy- ship, lieutenancy, office or dignity of ḵẖalīfa (Caliph). 2. Imperial dignity, monarchy.

شرافت sharāfat A (from شرف) s. f. Nobility.

شفت shafat A (Heb. ) s. m. The mouth, the lip.

صفت ṣifat A (from وصف) s. f. 1. Praise. 2. Quality, attribute. 3. Manner, description. 4. A noun adjective. 5. Like, resembling. صفت موصوف ṣifat mauṣūf, An adjective (with its sub- stantive).

ضيافت ẓiyāfat A s. f. 1. A feast, a banquet, convivial entertainment. 2. Hospitality. 3. In- vitation. ضيافت کرنا ẓiyāfat karnā, To enter- tain, to feast, treat.

طرفة العين t̤urfatu-l-aﻌin A (prop. t̤arfatu-l-aﻌin) The twinkling of an eye.

ظرافت z̤arāfat A s. f. 1. Beauty. 2. Politeness, elegance, gallantry. 3. Wit, humour, jocula- rity, facetiousness.

عاطفت āﻌtifat A (from عطف Heb. To in- cline, to cover) s. f. Kindness, benevolence, af- fection.
