بيٿ bīṭ S̱. s. f. (विटू) 1. Dung of any ani- mal. 2. (Same as विटलवण) A factitious salt containing sulphur.

بيٿنا bīṭnā H v. n. To spill, to scatter.

بيٿها bīṭhā H s. m. An annular cushion put on the head to carry a pot of water on.

بيڙا bīṛā S̱. s. m. 1. The same as s̱. بيرا bīrā, q. v. 2. A thong tied to the hilt of a sword by which it is retained in the scabbard, a sword knot. بيڙااٿهانا bīṛā uṭhānā, v. a. To undertake a bu- siness. بيڙاڐالنا bīṛā ḍālnā, To propose a pre- mium for the performance of a task. (These expressions originate in a custom that prevailed of throwing a bīṛā of betel into the midst of an assembly, in token of proposal to any person to undertake some difficult affair then requisite to be performed; and, the person who took up the betel bound himself to perform the business in question).
