تعطل taʼaﻌt̤t̤ul A (inf. v. of عطل Heb. Was idle, slothful) s. m. 1. Idleness. 2. Having no bracelets or other ornaments.

تعطيل taﻌt̤īl A (inf. ii. of عطل) s. f. 1. Abandoning, neglecting. 2. Rendering useless. 3. Laying waste, vacation. (Friday is the تعطيل کا روز taﻌt̤īl kā roz of Muhammadan school boys).

عطا aﻌt̤ā A s. f. A gift, present, favour, giving. عطا بخش aﻌt̤ā-baḵẖsh, adj. Liberal, bountiful. عطا کرنا aﻌt̤ā karnā, To grant, give, bestow, confer.

عطر aﻌt̤r A (prop. iﻌt̤r) s. m. Perfume, fragrance, essence, ottar (of roses, &c.). عطر دان aﻌt̤r-dān, A perfume-box or receptacle for perfume. عطر مالي aﻌt̤r-māl-ī, s. f. The rubbing of perfume.

عطسه aﻌt̤sa A s. m. Sneezing.

عطش aﻌt̤ash A s. f. Thirst.

عطشان aﻌt̤shān A adj. Thirsty.

عطف aﻌt̤f A s. m. Favour, affection, kindness, a present, bounty. حرف عطف ḥarf-i-aﻌt̤f, A co- pulative conjunction.

معطر muʼaﻌt̤t̤ar A (part. pass. II. of عطر analog. to Heb. ) adj. Perfumed, fragrant.

معطل muʼaﻌt̤t̤al A (part. pass. II. of عطل Heb. ) adj. Vacant, unemployed, disengaged, ne- glected, destitute, out of use, obsolete, idle.

معطوف maﻌt̤ūf A (part. pass. of عطف) adj. In- clined, turned; conjoined (in grammar).
