باره سنگا bārah-singā S̱. (द्वादशन् Twelve, and शृंग Horn) s. m. A stag. (Cervus elaphus).

سنگا singā S̱. (from शृंग Horn) s. m. A trumpet.

سنگار singār शृंगार S̱. s. m. Ornament, dress, embellishment, decoration. سنگاررس singār- ras, s. m. One of the nine ras: see s. رس.

سنگارنا singārnā S̱. (from शृंगार) v. a. To dress, to decorate, to embellish.

سنگارهار singār-hār शृंगारहार S̱. s. m. The weeping Nyctanthes. (Nyctanthes arbor tristis).

سنگاريا singār-iyā S̱. (from शृंगार) s. m. One whose business it is to dress an idol.

سنگهني singhinī S̱. (from सिंह) s. f. A lioness.

سنگهہ सिंह singh S s. m. 1. A lion. 2. The sign Leo. 3. A title used by Hindūs. سنگهپور singh- paur, The grand entrance gate (to a palace, &c.).

سنگوٿي singauṭī S̱. (from शृंग) s. f. 1. A polish-

سنگيا singiyā शृंगिक S̱. s. m. A sort of poison.

سنگڙا singṛā S̱. (from शृंग) s. m. A powderhorn.

سنگڙي singṛī S̱. (from शृंग or dimin. of سنگڙا) s. f. A small powderhorn for priming with.

نرسنگا nar-singā नलशृंग S̱. s. m. A horn (mu- sical), a wind instrument. S. نرسنگهـ नरसिंह or नृसिंह nar-singh or nr̤i- singh, s. m. The name of the fourth Avatār or incarnation of Vish̤ṇu, which happened in the Satya-yuga, upon the following occasion. Hiranya-kasipu, an impious prince, was en- raged at his son Prahlād for worshipping the Almighty, and tried every means of destroying him, by poison, by throwing him into fire, into the ocean, &c. yet Prahlād lived. "If your God is present every where," says Hiranya- kasipu, "let him come from an alabaster pil- lar;" on which Nar-singha appeared, with the lower part of a man and the upper of a lion,
