ادام الله adāma-llāh A May God preserve (him).

استغفرال‍له astag̠ẖfiru-llāh A I entreat forgiveness of. God. (An expression signifying negation, God forbid!).

اصطلاح iṣt̤ilāh A (inf. viii. of صلح) s. f. A phrase, idiom, technical term, figure in rhetorick. (Pl. اصطلاحات).

الاهنا ulāhnā H s. m. Reproach, complaint. See ارهنا urihnā, and الہنا ulahnā.

الحمدلله al-ḥamdu lillāhi A God be praised.

العظمت لله al-aﻌz̤amatu lillāhi A Great is God! (an ejaculation expressive of surprise, fear, de- nial, &c.).

الله allāh A s. m. God. الله اکبر allāhu akbar,

المنت لله alminnatu lillāhi A Praise to God! good God! (an ejaculation expressive of surprise, fear, denial, &c.).

اله ilāh A s. m. God. الہا ilāh-ā, O God!

الہي ilāhī A adj. Divine. interj. O God!

الہیت ilāhīyat A s. f. The divinity, godhead.

ان شا الله تعالي in shā allāhu taāﻌlạ A God willing, if God pleases, please God.

بارک الله bārak-allāh A God prosper you! (a phrase expressive of approbation).

بالله bi-llāh A By God.

بسم الله bismi-l-lāh A In the name of God, or بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم bismi-l-lāhi-r-rahmāni-r-raḥīm, In the name of God the most merciful. (An invocation generally used by Muhammadans at the beginning of all actions and works). بسم الله کرنا bismi-l-lāh karnā, To begin, to com- mence. بسم الله هوا bismi-l-lāh hūʼā, Said of a child who has just commenced learning to read.
