برهم ब्रह्म brahm S or brahma, God, the cause and essence of the world from which all things are supposed to proceed and to which they return. برهم استر brahm-astra, s. m. A fabled weapon, which, consecrated by a formula addressed to Brahmā, deals infallible destruction to those against whom it is discharged. برهمبهوج brahm- bhoj, Feeding of Brāhmaṇs. برهم ديت brahma- daitya, An apparition, Satan, ghost. برهمراتر ब्रह्मरात्रि brahma-rātri, s. f. برهما ब्रह्मा brahmā S s. m. The Deity in the character of Creator, or matter personified. S. برهمانڐ ब्रह्मांड (ब्रह्म Brahm, and अंड an egg, to which the world is likened) brahmānḍ, s. m. 1. The globe, the world. (In creation there are said to have been innumerable Brah- mānḍas). 2. The top of the head.

برهمبان brahma-bān S̱. s. m. See برهم استر brahm- astra under برهم brahm.

برهملوک ब्रह्मलोक brahma-lok S s. m. The re- gion or heaven of Brahmā.

برهمن brahman S̱. or barahman or birahman, n. prop. A Brahman. See براهمن.

برهمني brahman-ī S. s. f. See براهمني brāhmaṇ-ī.

برهمچاري ब्रह्मचारी brahmachārī S s. m. A re- ligious student, a Brāhmaṇ from the time of his investiture with the sacerdotal thread till he becomes a householder, a person who continues with his spiritual teacher studying the Veda, a Panḍit learned in the Veda, an ascetick.

برهمچرج brahmacharj S (for brahmacharya ब्रह्मचर्य्य) s. m. The profession or way of life of a Brahmachārī.
