استحقار istiḥḳār A (inf. x. of حقارت) s. m. Treating with contempt, vilifying, scorning, despising.

اقارب aḳārib A s. plur. (of قریب) Relatives.

تقارب taḳārub A (inf. vi. of قرب) s. m. 1. Ap- proaching one another. 2. (in versification) Name of a measure.

حقارت ḥiḳārat A (properly ḥaḳārat, from حقر) s. f. Contempt, scorn, disdain, affront, disgrace, vileness, baseness, despicableness.

شنقار shunḳār P s. A black-eyed sort of falcon, used by kings in hunting.

قاروره ḳārūra A (from قرّ To rest, to settle) s. m. A flask, glass, an urinal (sent to physicians, &c.).

قارون ḳārūn A n. prop. A person supposed to be the same as Korah, whom the Muhammadans describe as the cousin of Moses. (On account of his riches and avarice, his name is proverbially applied to all misers).

قاري ḳārī A (part. act. of قرأ Heb. To read) s. m. A reader, especially of the ḳurʼān. (plur. قاريين ḳāriyīn).

قلقاري ḳilḳārī H. (perhaps, from s. किलकिला)

مقاربت muḳārabat A (inf. III. of قرب Heb. and Aram. ) s. f. Approximation, showing af- finity.

مقارنت muḳāranat A (inf. III. of قرن) s. f. Con- junction, connexion.

منقار minḳār A (noun of instrum. of نقر Heb. and Aram. ) s. f. A birdʼs bill, beak.

موسيقار mūsīḳār P s. A musical instrument made of long and short reeds set together in a tri- angular form, used by dervises or shepherds; pandean pipes: some say the word means a bird with many holes in its beak from which holes various sounds issue.

نقاره naḳāra A or naḳḳāra (from نقر Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. A kettledrum. نقاره بجاتي پهرنا naḳāra bajāte phirnā (dakh. i. q. مشـﮩور کرنا) To publish, make celebrated (?).

نقاري naḳār-ī A. s. m. One who beats the kettle- drum.
