آتر आतुर आ and r. तुर Hasten ātur S. adj. Agitated, restless, distressed, afflicted.

آتم ātm आत्मन् S̱. s. m. Soul, self. (much used in the composition of Hindawī words; as) آتم پالک ātm-pālak, Selfish; آتم گهات ātm-ghāt, Self-murder; آتم نامي ātm-nāmī, Self-evident.

آتما आत्मा ātmā S s. f. The soul, the body, the self, the mind, the understanding. (Hence the Greek *autmh).

آدت ādit आदितः S̱. adv. From the begin- ning; et cetera, and the like.

آدت आदित्य āditya S s. m. A descendant of ادتي अदिति; a deity in general, the sun. ادتیت आदित्यवार āditya-bār, Sunday.

آدتوار आदित्यवार āditya-vār S s. m. Sun- day. See آدت āditya.

آرتا ārtā आरात्रिक S̱. s. m. A ceremony attending marriage. When the bridegroom first comes to the house of the bride, he is received by her relations, who present to him, and move circularly round his head, a platter painted and divided into several compartments; in the middle of which is a lamp made of flour, filled with ghī and having several wicks lighted.

آسمنتات आसमन्तात् आ, सम् and अन्त End āsamantāt S. adv. All around, on every side; wholly, altogether.

آشرت आश्रित ā-shrit S See آسرت ā-srit.

آم بات ām-bāt आमवात S̱. s. m. A swel- ling which comes without pain, and goes off as easily without medicine; a windy tumour.

آهت आहुति āhut S or āhuti, s. f. A burnt offering, offering oblations by fire to the deities.
