آرتهيا arthīyā S̱. (r. अर्थ Seek, beg) s. m. A fol- lower, a client, a protegee, a person recom- mended.

آويز āwez P part. (of آويختن) Hanging. آويزکرنا āwez karnā, To hang, to suspend.

آويزه āwez-a P s. m. An earring, drops worn in the ear, a pendant.

آويزي āwez-ī P s. f. (in compos.) Hanging.

آيا āyā P interj. used to interrogate or to express astonishment, ha! whether or not, whether, O!

آيت āyat H s. m. Sunbeam, sunshine.

آيت āyat A s. f. A sign, a mark; a verse or paragraph of the ḳurʼān contained between signs which serves as stops. آيت مطلق āyat-i-mut̤laḳ, A stop (in grammar) used in the ḳurʼān only, and equivalent nearly to a comma.

آيسو आयसु āyasu H s. m. Command, order. S. ايسور ईश्वर (r. ईश Rule) īswar, s. m. Ruler, master, lord, chief; Siva, God.

انميش उन्मेष unmesh̤. S s. m. Winking, twin- kling of the eyelids.

انياو a-nyāw S̱. s. m. See انياي a-nyāʼe.

انياي अन्याय a-nyāʼe S or a-nyāya, s. m. Injus- tice, impropriety, outrage. S. انيابي अन्यायी (from انياي अन्याय q. v.) a-nyāyī, adj. Unjust, oppressive, lawless.

انيت अनीति a-nīti S s. f. Unmannerliness, rudeness, impropriety, injustice, immorality.
