تمثل tamas̤s̤ul A (inf. v. of مثل) s. m. 1. Imita- ting, resembling. 2. Applying allegories.

تمثيل tams̤īl A (inf. ii. of مثل) s. f. 1. Comparison, similitude. 2. Allegory, parable, apologue, an example, a counterpart or duplicate, a fac simile. (Plur. تمثيلات tams̤īlāt). تمثيل لانا tams̤īl lānā, To allegorize.

تمثيلا tams̤īl-aṉ A adv. By way of similitude, alle- gorically.

مثقال mis̤ḳāl A (from ثقل Heb. ) s. m. A weight containing 4 māshas and 3 1/2 rattīs (which see under تولا tolā).

مثل mas̤al A (Heb. ) s. f. 1. Fable, allegory, parable simile, metaphor, proverb, apologue.

مثلا mas̤alaṉ A or mis̤laṉ, adv. For example, e. g., namely.

مثلث mus̤allas̤ A (part. pass. II. of ثلث Heb. ) adj. Three-cornered, triple. s. m. A triangle, a sort of verse consisting of three lines. مثلث مثلا mus̤allas̤ mas̤lā, An allegorical fable.

مثله mus̤la A or mus̤ula, s. An example, punish- ment inflicted by way of example. ¶ mas̤ala, See مثل mas̤al or مثلا mas̤alaṉ.

مثمر mus̤mir A (part. act. IV. of ثمر) adj. Fruit- ful, fruit-bearing. ¶ mus̤ammar (part. pass. II.) Fruit ripe for gathering.

مثمن mus̤amman A (part. pass. II. of ثمن Heb. ) adj. Consisting of eight, octangular, eight- fold; octagon.

مثنوي mas̤nawī A (from ثني) s. f. The sort of verse, in which the couplets rhime regularly, as in English heroick verse; a poem in that verse. (Plur. مثنويات mas̤nawīyāt).

مثنيٰٰٰ mus̤annạ̄ A (part. pass. II. of ثني Heb. ) 1. s. m. A copy, duplicate, the second. 2. adj. Double, binary, dual, of the dual number.
