آلت ālat A s. f. A tool, an instrument, appa- ratus; membrum virile, veretrum animalium.

اجلت ujjalit S̱. (उत् and ज्वलित Blazing) adj. Pure, clean, clear.

استمالت istimālat A (inf. x. of میل) s. f. Con- ciliating, consolation, encouragement.

اصالت aṣālat A or iṣālat (from اصل) s. f. Firmness, integrity, genuineness, the being well rooted, constancy, solidity of judgment.

اصالتا aṣālataṉ A adv. Originally, radically, firmly, entirely, absolutely.

التا altā S̱. or āltā (अलक्त or आलक्त्य) s. m. Cotton strongly impregnated with the die of lac, ready to be used for dying, &c. (principally used by the Hindū women for staining their feet red).

التجا iltijā A (inf. viii. of لجأ) s. f. Fleeing to any one for relief or protection; entreaty, re- quest, petition, refuge, protection.

التزام iltizām A (inf. viii. of لزم) s. m. Being necessary or expedient, being assiduous, taking on oneʼs self.

التفات iltifāt A (inf. viii. of لفت Heb. He bent, inclined) s. f. Friendship, kindness, obli- gation, courtesy, respect, regard, attention; an apostrophe (in rhetorick). التفات کرنا iltifāt karnā, To attend to, to have regard or respect.

التماس iltimās A (inf. viii. of لمس) s. m. f. Be- seeching, petitioning, supplication, prayer, re- quest. التماس کرنا iltimās karnā, To beseech, solicit, to request, to petition, supplicate, repre- sent humbly.

التمغا altamg̠ẖā T or āltamg̠ẖā, s. m. 1. The royal seal; a royal grant in perpetuity descending to posterity, royal insignia, royal diploma. 2. A tax levied on travellers. 3. tamg̠ẖā (among the Turks signifies) A stamp on gold or silver plate to certify its being of standard purity. (Me- ninski).

التني altanī H s. f. The rope round the neck of an elephant, in which the driver puts his feet as in stirrups.

التها ulthā H s. m. Translation (of a writing).

التهنا ulathnā H v. n. To undulate, to be agi- tated (as the ocean by storms).

التہاب iltihāb A (inf. viii. of لہب) s. m. Burning, heat, flaming.
