اشعب ashʼaﻌb A n. prop. Name of a man noto- rious for greediness.

تعب taʼaﻌb A s. m. f. Labour, lassitude, weariness, toil, trouble. تعب کش taʼaﻌb-kash, adj. Enduring labour, &c.

تعبير taﻌbīr A (inf. ii. of عبر Heb. He passed over) s. f. 1. Explanation, interpretation (par- ticularly, of dreams). 2. Attribute, quality. (Plur. تعبيرات taﻌbīrāt). تعبيرگو taﻌbīr-go, s. m. An interpreter of dreams.

تعبيه taﻌbiya A (inf. ii. of عبأ or عبو) s. m. 1. Arrangement, disposition. 2. Drawing up of an army. 3. Inlaying.

سعبان shaﻌbān A (from شعب) s. m. The eighth Arabian month. (The 14th day of it is the festival called برات barāt, q. v.: on this day, an angel is supposed to examine a record, on which is written the names of the living).

شعبده shuﻌbada P (improp. shaﻌbada) s. m. Sleight of hand, conjuration. سعبده باز shuﻌba- da-bāz, s. m. A juggler, a conjurer. شعبده بازي shuﻌbada-bāz-ī, s. f. Conjuration, sleight of hand, juggling, hocus-pocus.

شعبه shuʼba A s. m. The cleft or crack of a moun- tain in which water stands, a channel in which water flows especially through the sand.

صعب ṣaﻌb A adj. Hard, difficult, arduous, rough, troublesome, disagreeable, disobedient, stubborn, perverse.

عبا aﻌbā A or iﻌbā, s. plur. Garments said to be generally black and made of goatʼs hair.

عبارت iﻌbārat A (from عبر) s. f. Style, mode of expression or of explanation (in language), phrase, phraseology, a trope or figure, signifi- cation, import, meaning. (Plur. عبارات).

عباس aﻌbbās A s. m. Name of a plant, marvel of Peru. (Mirabilis jalapa).
