استسعاد istisʼāﻌd A (inf. x. of سعد Heb. and Ch. Was happy, supported) s. m. Desiring happiness, being fortunate, considering any thing as a happy presage, conceiving well of any thing.

اسعد asʼaﻌd A adj. compar. (of سعید) More or very fortunate or happy.

سعادت saʼāﻌdat A (from سعد) s. f. Felicity, hap- piness, good fortune. سعادت مند saʼāﻌdat- mand, adj. Fortunate, prosperous, happy. سعادت مندي saʼāﻌdat-mand-ī, s. f. Prosperity.

سعايت siʼāﻌyat A (from سعي) s. f. 1. The work exacted of a half-ransomed slave to complete his freedom, or his paying the remaining price of redemption. 2. Accusation, detraction. 3. The care or management of the tenths or tithes raised for alms.

سعبان shaﻌbān A (from شعب) s. m. The eighth Arabian month. (The 14th day of it is the festival called برات barāt, q. v.: on this day, an angel is supposed to examine a record, on which is written the names of the living).

سعتر saﻌtar A s. f. 1. Origanum. 2. A woman that loves a woman. 3. Instrumentum in mo- dum virgæ virilis, confectum ex serico vel simili materia, quo, ad medium corporis sibi alligato meretrices utuntur.

سعد saﻌd A s. m. Felicity, prosperity, propi- tiousness.

مسعد musʼaﻌd A (part. pass. IV. from سعد Heb. ) adj. Happy, fortunate, propitious, august.

وسعت wusʼaﻌt A (from وسع Heb. and Aram. ) s. f. 1. Latitude, amplitude, space, extent. 2. Leisure, convenience, opportunity, ease.
