آتما आत्मा ātmā S s. f. The soul, the body, the self, the mind, the understanding. (Hence the Greek *autmh).

اتمام itmām A (inf. iv. of تمام) s. m. Perfecting, perfection, completion, accomplishment. اتمام کرنا itmām karnā, To complete, accomplish, perfect. اتمام هونا itmām honā, To be completed, &c.

اتمان ātmāṅ S̱. s. f. The soul: see آتما ātmā. آنا آتمان ānā ātmāṅ (for अनात्मा) The reverse of soul. S. آتمج आत्मज (आतमन् Self, body, and ज Born, from r. जन Be produced) ātmaj, s. m. A son. S̱. اتن (अ and तनु Body, q. d. Incorporeal) atan, n. prop. Kāmdeʼo, the god of love among the Hindūs.

اجتماع ijtimāﻌ A (inf. viii. of جمع) s. m. 1. Act of assembling or gathering together; agreeing together (in opinion), assemblage, collection, accumulation, afflux. 2. Conjunction (in as- tronomy).

احتمال iḥtimāl A (inf. viii. of حمل Heb.and Syr. He bore) s. m. 1. Act of bearing or sup- porting. 2. Doubt, uncertainty. 3. Proba- bility, conjecture. احتمال کرنا iḥtimāl karnā, To doubt, to impute. احتمال هونا iḥtimāl honā, To be probable.

استمالت istimālat A (inf. x. of میل) s. f. Con- ciliating, consolation, encouragement.

استمتاع istimtāﻌ A (inf. x. of متع) s. m. 1. En- joying, reaping the fruits of, being delighted; celebrating the solemnities of the festival of Mecca; enjoyment (of a woman).

استمداد istimdād A (inf. x. of مدد) s. f. Begging assistance.

استمرار istimrār A (inf. x. of مرور) s. m. Con- tinuation, perseverance, perpetuity.

استمراري istimrār-ī A adj. Continuative, perpe- tual.

اشتمال ishtimāl A (inf. viii. of شمل) s. m. Com- prehension, containing.

اعتماد iﻌtimād A (inf. viii. of عمد) s. m. Re- liance, trust, faith, confidence, dependence. اعتماد رکهنا یا کرنا iﻌtimād-rakhnā or -karnā, To rely, to depend (on).

اعتمادي iﻌtimād-ī A adj. Trust-worthy.

التماس iltimās A (inf. viii. of لمس) s. m. f. Be- seeching, petitioning, supplication, prayer, re- quest. التماس کرنا iltimās karnā, To beseech, solicit, to request, to petition, supplicate, repre- sent humbly.

التمغا altamg̠ẖā T or āltamg̠ẖā, s. m. 1. The royal seal; a royal grant in perpetuity descending to posterity, royal insignia, royal diploma. 2. A tax levied on travellers. 3. tamg̠ẖā (among the Turks signifies) A stamp on gold or silver plate to certify its being of standard purity. (Me- ninski).
