آفتاب āftāb P s. m. The sun, sunshine. آفتاب پرست āftāb-parast, A worshipper of the sun. آفتاب پرستي āftāb-parast-ī, s. f. Worship of the sun. آفتاب گیر āftāb-gīr, A parasol, an umbrella.

آفتابه āftāba P s. m. An ewer.

آفتابي āftāb-ī P 1. adj. Of the sun, solar, faded by the sun, yellow. 2. s. f. A parasol of a par- ticular form, a target studded with gold.

اتائي atā-ī H s. One who sings and dances gratis.

اتابگ atā-bag T (comp. of اتا atā, Father, and بگ bag, Lord) s. m. A master, a teacher, a title given to kings or prime ministers.

اتار utār S̱. s. m. Descent, declination. اتار دینا utār denā, To bring down; (met.) to disgrace, to dishonour.

اتارا utārā S̱. (from اتارنا utārnā, q. v.) s. m. A descent, crossing or passing (over a river, &c): an answer: cast off clothes: disgrace, degrada- tion: ransom, self-devotion.

اتارنا utārnā S̱. (caus. of اترنا) v. a. 1. To cause to alight or descend, to bring down; to degrade. 2. To cause to pass over, to convey over. 3. To take off, to strip off, to tear off, cut off or break off (a portion of any thing), to unload, disem- bark, dismount, discharge. 4. استاد ustād A s. m. A master (in any art), an adept, teacher, preceptor, artist.

استاده istāda P part. Standing, set up, erected, erect; (hence, sub.) A pole, ensign-staff, prop, &c. particularly, a prop for supporting the door of a tent, and not the tent pole.
