ببيک bibek S (विवेक from वि and r. विच Divide) s. m. Discrimination, judgment, dis- cretion.

ببيکي bibek-ī विवेकी S̱. adj. Discreet. P.S̱. بپاهونا ba-pā honā, To be raised, established, or pitched.

بيچ bīch S̱. (see بهيتر) 1. adv. In, into, among, be- tween, during. 2. s. m. Middle, midst, centre. 3. Difference. 4. Quarrel, hostility. بيچ بچاؤ bīch-bichāʼo, Mediation, interposition, arbitration. بيچ بچاؤکرنا bīch-bichāʼo karnā, To mediate, in- terpose. بيچ پڙنا bīch paṛnā, v. n. بيچابيچ bīch-ā-bīch S̱. Middlemost, in the very middle, central.

بيچنا bechnā S̱. (see بينچنا) v. a. To sell.

بيچها bīchhā वृश्र्चिक S̱. s. m. 1. A scorpion. 2. The sign Scorpio.

بيچهـ bīchh S̱. adv. See بيچ bīch.

بيچوبه be-choba (lit. P pole-less) s. m. A kind of tent pitched without a pole.

بيڙ beṛ H s. m. An enclosure. بيڙبندي کرنا beṛ bandī karnā, To enclose a field.

بيڙا beṛā वेटप S̱. s. m. 1. A raft, a float. 2. The raft which is floated by the Muhammadans in honour of ḵẖẉāja ḵẖiẓr. (Besides the anni- versary beṛa offered to propitiate him, hundreds of smaller ones with lamps may be seen on Thursdays of the month bhādoṅ particularly, which are offered by the Muhammadans to this saint). بيڙاباندهنا beṛa bāndhnā, v. a. To col- lect a crowd. بيڙاپارکرنايالگانا beṛā pār karnā or lagānā, To relieve from distress, to remove difficulties, to help one through a business (lit. to ferry over a raft). بيڙاپارهونا beṛā pār honā, To obtain deliverance from misfortune or distress, to succeed.

بيڙا bīṛā S̱. s. m. 1. The same as s̱. بيرا bīrā, q. v. 2. A thong tied to the hilt of a sword by which it is retained in the scabbard, a sword knot. بيڙااٿهانا bīṛā uṭhānā, v. a. To undertake a bu- siness. بيڙاڐالنا bīṛā ḍālnā, To propose a pre- mium for the performance of a task. (These expressions originate in a custom that prevailed of throwing a bīṛā of betel into the midst of an assembly, in token of proposal to any person to undertake some difficult affair then requisite to be performed; and, the person who took up the betel bound himself to perform the business in question).

بيڙها beṛhā H 1. adj. Crooked. 2. s. m. Paling, railing.

بيڙهنا beṛhnā H v. a. 1. To enclose with a fence, to surround. 2. To pound (cattle, &c.). 3. To drive away cattle.

بيڙي beṛī H s. f. 1. Irons fastened to the legs (of criminals, elephants, &c.), fetters. 2. A basket used to irrigate fields with.

بيڙيا beṛiyā H s. m. 1. The name of a cast of Hin- dūs. 2. s̱. dimin. of بيڙا beṛā, q. v.
