ابجد abjad A s. m. A particular arrangement of the Arabic alphabet; the alphabet; a mode of denoting numbers by the letters of the alphabet.

ابجد خوان abjad-ḵẖẉān P s. m. One who is learning his alphabet.

بج بجانا baj bajānā S̱. (see بجانا) v. n. To effer- vesce with noise in putrefying. A. S̱. بجدهونا ba-jidd-honā, v. n. To be in earnest, to be importunate, to insist.

بجئيي विजयी वि and r. जि Conquer bijayī S. or vi-jayī, adj. Vanquisher, conqueror.

بجا ba-jā P In place; fit, opportune, right, pro- per, accurate, true, properly, fitly.

بجان ba-jān P Heartily, with, in or to soul. بجان لانا ba-jān lānā, To tease, tire, disgust.

بجانا bajānā S̱. (from वाद्य A musical instrument) v. a. To sound, to play upon an instrument of musick, to perform or execute (musick), to beat (a drum, &c.).

بجاي ba-jāʼe P adv. Instead, in the place of.

بجايٿهـ bijāyaṭh H s. m. A bracelet worn on the arm, an armlet.

بجاک bajāk H s. m. A kind of serpent. P. S̱. بجالانا ba-jā-lānā, v. n. To perform, accom- plish, execute, effect, to obey.

بجر ba-juz P prep. With the exception, without, besides, except.

بجر वज्र bajr S or vajra, s. m. 1. A thunder- bolt. 2. A diamond. 3. adj. Hard. بجرپڙي اس پروغيره bajr paṛe us par wa g̠ẖaira, May lightning fall on him, &c. (An expression used in cursing any one).

بجرا bajrā S̱. (perhaps, from بجر q. v. implying Hard, heavy) s. m. A boat for travelling in, a pleasure boat of a larger kind.

بجربٿو bajr-baṭṭū H s. m. Name of a fruit.

بجرنگ bajr-ang वज्रांग S̱. s. m. A title of Hanūmān.
