آکار आकार ā-kār S and corruptly akār, s. m. Form, appearance.

آکاس برت ākās-brit S̱. (आकाश The sky, and वृत्ति Livelihood) s. f. Subsistence not derived from any certain funds or depending on any par- ticular person; living from hand to mouth.

آکاس برتي ākās-britt-ī S̱. adj. used substantively, One whose subsistence is fortuitous.

آکاس دیا ākās diyā आकाशदीप S̱. A lamp which the Hindūs hang aloft on a bamboo in the month kārtik.

آکاس نیم ākās-nīm S̱. s. m. A plant growing on the nīm trees. (A kind of Epidendron).

آکاس پون ākās-pawan S̱. (Sans. आकाशवल्ली or अमरवल्ली, in Hindī आकाशबेल or अमरबेल) s. m. A plant growing on trees, air-plant or dodder. (Cuscuta reflexa). Hunter.

آکاس आकाश ākās S (or akās), s. m. The fifth element, ether; the sky, the atmosphere, the heavens, the firmament, space. (This element is held by the Hindūs to be more subtle than air, to fill and pervade the universe, and to be the peculiar vehicle of life and sound). آکاس باني ākās-bānī (आकाश The sky, and वाणी Sound) s. f. A voice from heaven; revelation, an oracle.
