الجوع aljūﻌ A (ال art. and جوع Hunger) interj. used in complaining of hunger.

جوع jūﻌ A s. f. Hunger, appetite. جوع البقر jūʼuﻌ-l-baḳar or جوع الکلب jūʼuﻌ-l-kalb, adj. Vo- racious, gluttonous. جوع کلبي jūﻌ kalbī, Canine hunger.

خضوع ḵẖuẓūﻌ A s. Humility.

رجوع rujūﻌ A (from رجع) s. m. f. 1. Return, recourse, turning towards, bent, bias, appearing. 2. Reference, appeal. رجوع کرنا rujūﻌ karnā, To return, refer, allude, appeal, have recourse to, repair to. رجوع لانا rujūﻌ lānā, To turn towards, to betake oneʼs self, to side with, to submit, to yield.

صعوبت ṣuʼūﻌbat A s. f. Difficulty, hardship, trouble.

صعود ṣuʼūﻌd A s. m. Ascent, ascension.

طلوع t̤ulūﻌ A s. m. Rising (as, of the sun, &c.). طلوع هونا t̤ulūﻌ honā, To rise (the sun).

عوج بن عوق يا عنق ūﻌju-bnu-ūﻌḳ A or -uﻌnuḳ, The Og, king of Bashan, mentioned in the Bible.

عود ūﻌd A s. m. 1. Wood, timber. 2. A staff, a stick. 3. The wood aloes. (In dakh. this word, however, seems used for gum benzoin). 4. A lute or harp. ¶ aﻌud, s. m. 1. Returning. 2. A man of abilities, experience, and prudence.

عور ūﻌr A adj. plur. (of اعور aﻌwar) Naked, one- eyed.
