ابداع ibdāﻌ A (inf. iv. of بدع Heb. and Ch. To cleave, investigate, invent) s. m. The production of something new, invention.

اجتماع ijtimāﻌ A (inf. viii. of جمع) s. m. 1. Act of assembling or gathering together; agreeing together (in opinion), assemblage, collection, accumulation, afflux. 2. Conjunction (in as- tronomy).

اجماع ijmāﻌ A (inf. iv of جمع) s. m. Act of as- sembling, an assembly, senate, council, court of justice, a crowd, collection, amount, whole. اجماع امت ijmāﻌ-i-ummat, s. m. General as- sembly of the people, unanimous consent.

اختراع iḵẖtirāﻌ A (inf. viii. of خرع) s. m. Inven- tion, inventing, fancying. اختراع کرنا iḵẖtirāﻌ karnā, To invent, devise.

ادعا iddiāﻌ A (inf. viii. of دعا) s. m. The act of demanding oneʼs rights, claim, pretension.

اذعان iẕʼāﻌn A (inf. iv. of ذعن) s. m. 1. Obe- dience, submission. 2. Confidence, belief.

ارتفاع irtifāﻌ A (inf. viii. of رفع) s. m. Eleva- tion, exaltation, ascent, height.

استدعا istidʼāﻌ A (inf. x. of دعوت) s. f. Request, desire, invitation, supplication, application.

استسعاد istisʼāﻌd A (inf. x. of سعد Heb. and Ch. Was happy, supported) s. m. Desiring happiness, being fortunate, considering any thing as a happy presage, conceiving well of any thing.

استعاره istiāﻌra A (inf. x. of عاریت) s. m. Bor- rowing; using a word metaphorically; a me- taphor. استعاره کرنا istiāﻌra karnā, To beseech, to beg earnestly.

استعانت istiāﻌnat A (inf. x. of عون) s. f. 1. Asking assistance, imploring help. 2. Assistance, protection.

استمتاع istimtāﻌ A (inf. x. of متع) s. m. 1. En- joying, reaping the fruits of, being delighted; celebrating the solemnities of the festival of Mecca; enjoyment (of a woman).

استٰماع istimāﻌ A (inf. viii. of سمع) s. m. 1. Hearing, listening (to musick, &c. particularly). 2. Tidings, report, rumour, what is heard.
