ابن زیاد ibn ziyād A n. prop. A governour of Kūfa and a great enemy of the sect of Ali.

تازيانه tāziyāna P s. m. A whip, a scourge. تازيانه جڙنا يا لگانا يا مارنا tāziyāna-jaṛnā or -la- gānā or -mārnā, v. a. To scourge.

تعزيت taﻌziyat A (inf. ii. of عزي) s. f. Condo- lence, lamentation, mourning. تعزيت نامه taﻌziyat-nāma, s. m. Letter of condolence.

تعزيه taﻌziya A (from عزي) s. m. 1. See تعزيت taﻌziyat. 2. It is become the name of the re- presentation of the tomb of Hasan and Husain, which is thrown into the river at the anniver- sary of the muḥarram. تعزيه خانه taﻌziya-ḵẖāna, s. m. The place of taﻌziya. تعزيه دار يا گير taﻌziya-dār or -gīr, One who observes the mourning in muḥarram: and, تعزيه داري taﻌzi- ya-dār-ī, s. f. The observance of it. تعزيه لينا taﻌziya lenā, To observe the mourning during the muḥarram, to go into mourning.

تنزيه tanziya A (inf. ii. of نزو or نزا) s. m. Inspiring with desire; desire, propensity.

جزٴيات juziyāt A s. (plur. of جزٴية) Particulars, small parts, minutiæ.

زيان ziyān P s. m. Hurt, harm, injury, mischief, detriment, damage, deficiency, loss. زيان کار ziyān-ḳār, adj. Doing mischief, mischievous, hurtful, injurious. زيان کاري ziyān-kār-ī, s. f. The doing mischief, the occasioning of loss or damage, hurtfulness, mischievousness. زيان کرنا ziyān karnā, To cause the harm, hurt, injury, damage, &c. (of), to injure, &c.

غازيه g̠ẖāziya A s. (for قوةغازية) The faculty of intending or of purposing.
