اماوس amā-was S̱. (अमावस्या or अमावास्या from अमा With, and r. वस Abide) s. f. The conjunction of the sun and moon, the change of the moon.

بوالهوس bu-l-hawas A (بو Endowed with, and هوس Desire) adj. 1. Desirous. 2. Whimsical, ca- pricious, a wavering fickle (person), a block head.

بوالهوسي bu-l-hawas-ī A s. f. Caprice, capriciousness. S̱.H. بوانا boʼānā, 1. (from بونا) v. a. To cause to sow. 2. (from بو Smell) v. n. To stink, to emit a smell, to smell.

توسط tawassut̤ A (inf. v. of وسط) s. m. 1. Media- tion. 2. Introduction; also, a mediator, or in- troducer.

توسل tawassul A (inf. v. of وسل) s. m. 1. Con- junction, copulation. 2. Introduction (to ano- ther person).

سوست स्वस्ति swasti S A particle of benedic- tion, approbation, &c. (so be it, amen). स्वस्ति वाचन swasti-vāchan, s. m. A religious rite preparatory to any important observance, in which the Brāhmaṇs strew boiled rice on the ground, and invoke the blessing of the gods on the ceremony about to commence.

متوسط mutawassit̤ A (part. act. V. of وسط) adj. Intermediate, interposing, middling.

متوسل mutawassil A part. act. (V. from وسيلة) 1. Adjoining, conjoined. 2. Trusting in God. (subst.) A confidant.

مشوش mushauwash A (part. pass. II. of شوش) adj. 1. Disturbed, confused, intricate. 2. Dis- tressed, uneasy, perplexed.

مـﮩروش mihr-wash P adj. Like the sun. P. S̱. مـﮩرونتا mihr-wantā, adj. (dakh.) Affectionate, friendly, kind.

مـﮩوس muhauwas A (part. pass. II. of هوس) adj. Very desirous, distractedly in love. ¶ mu- hauwis (part. act.) s. m. An alchymist.

مـﮩوش mah-wash P adj. (Beautiful) as the moon; a sweetheart, a beauty.

ملوث mulauwas̤ A (part. pass. II. of لوث Heb. and Aram. ) adj. Polluted.

هوس hawas A (dakh. haus) s. f. 1. Desire, lust, concupiscence. 2. Ambition. 3. Curiosity. 4. Inordinate desire. هوس پکانا hawas-pakānā, To desire improperly, to be vainly or absurdly ambitious. هوس دار hawas-dār, adj. Desirous. هوس کيش hawas-kesh, adj. Desirous, lascivious.
