تحت taḥt A s. m. 1. The inferiour part, be- low, under. 2. Subjection, possession. تحت الثرا taḥtu-s̤-s̤arā or تحت الثري taḥtu-s̤-s̤arạ̄, s. m. Under the earth. تحت الشعاع taḥtu-sh-shuʼāﻌﻌ, s. m. تحتاني taḥtānī A adj. Inferiour, lower.

تحرير taḥrīr A (inf. ii. of حرّ) s. f. 1. Writing correctly, writing, description. 2. Manumission. 3. adj. Written, dated. (Plur. تحارير taḥārīr). تحريراقليدس taḥrīr-i-uḳledas, Euclidʼs elements. تحريرکرنا taḥrīr karnā, To write, describe, re- cord. تحريرهونا taḥrīr honā, To be written, &c.

تحريص taḥrīṣ A (inf. ii. of حرص) s. f. Instiga- tion, stimulation. تحريص کرنا taḥrīṣ karnā, To stimulate, to entice, to allure.

تحريف taḥrīf A (inf. ii. of حرف) s. f. 1. Trans- position of words or letters; an anagram. 2. Sharpening and cutting the point of a pen obliquely.

تحريمه taḥrīma A (inf. ii. of حرم q. v.) s. m. The commencement of prayer (as, worldly thoughts are then forbidden).

تحريک taḥrīḳ A (inf. ii. of حرکت) s. f. 1. Movement, agitation, incitement, stimulation, excitement, instigation, temptation, encourage-

تحس نحس taḥs naḥs A. adj. Spoilt, broken, dispersed, overthrown, destroyed, unfortunate. (The last part is significant, the first redun- dant).

تحسر taḥassur A (inf. v. of حسرت) s. m. 1. Grieving, regretting, regret. 2. Condolence.

تحسين taḥsīn A (inf. ii. of حسن) s. f. Approba- tion, applause, acclamation. تحسين تلفظ taḥsīn- i-talaffuz̤, Euphony. تحسين کرنا taḥsīn karnā, To praise, applaud, approve.

تحصيل taḥsīl A (inf. ii. of حصول) s. f. 1. Gain, acquisition, profit, attainment, learning. 2. Col- lection (particularly, of revenues). Pl. تحصيلات taḥṣīlāt, Collections, acquisitions. تحصيل کرنا taḥṣīl karnā, To acquire, to gain, to learn, to collect (revenue, &c.). A.P. تحصيلدار taḥṣīl-dār, s. m. A collector, a tax- gatherer. A.H. تحصيلنا taḥṣīl-nā, v. a. 1. To collect, to ga- ther a tax. 2. To oppress, to afflict. A.P. تحصيل داري taḥṣīl-dār-ī, s. f. Collectorship, tax-gathering.

تحقق taḥaḳḳuḳ A (inf. v. of حقّ) s. m. Ascer- tainment, certain knowledge, certainty.
