حسين ḥusain A (dim. of حسن ḥasan) adj. 1. Good, beautiful. 2. A proper name, a son of علي aﻌlī. حسيني ḥusainī, A sort of grape.

سياره saiyāra A (from سير) s. m. A planet. (Pers. plur. سيارگان saiyāra-gān).

سيال saiyāl A adj. (superl. from سيل To flow) Flowing rapidly like a torrent, rapid.

سياله saiyāla A s. m. A torrent.

سيتنا saitnā H or setnā, v. a. To take care of, to keep carefully, to husband.

سيد saiyid A (verbal adj. from سود) s. m. 1. A lord, a prince. 2. A descendant of Ḥusain, who was the grandson of the prophet Muḥammad. سيد الانام saiyidu-l-anām (the prince of men and of all living creatures), سيد البشر saiyidu-l-bashar (the prince of mortals), سيد المرسلين يا انبيا saiyidu-l-mursalīn or -ambiyā (the head of the apostles, or prophets) are epithets of Muḥammad.

سير sair A s. f. Perambulation, excursion, tour, travels, taking the air, an airing, walk, re- creation, amusement, moving about; perusal. سير کرنا sair karnā, 1. To take the air, travel, perambulate, rove, walk. 2. To read, to pe- ruse. سير گاه sair-gāh, s. f. Place of perambu- lation, walk, passage, pass, thoroughfare.

سيف saif A (Rab. and Chald. Gr. ci/fos) s. f. A sword. سيف بان saif-bān, s. m. A rocket which has a sword attached to its tail. سيف زبان saif-zabān, adj. One whose curses prevail. ¶ sīf, Bank, margin, shore.
